If You’ve Changed Your Mind, You Are Not Alone.
Sometimes decisions are made quickly in overwhelming moments. If you have taken the first abortion pill and are now experiencing regret, fear, or uncertainty, it’s important to know there may still be time.
Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) is a medical protocol that uses progesterone—the same natural hormone your body produces to support pregnancy—in an attempt to counteract the effects of the first abortion pill (mifepristone).
Time matters. The sooner treatment begins, the greater the chance of success.
How Does It Work?
The abortion pill process typically involves two medications:
The first medication, mifepristone (RU-486), blocks progesterone, a hormone necessary for a pregnancy to continue.
The second medication, taken 6–48 hours later, causes cramping and bleeding to empty the uterus.
Abortion Pill Reversal focuses on the window after the first pill has been taken but before the second medication is used. By administering progesterone, medical providers attempt to outcompete the effects of mifepristone and support the pregnancy.
When started within 24–72 hours of taking the first pill, reported success rates range between approximately 64–68%. Earlier treatment offers the best chance of continuing the pregnancy.
How Much Time Do I Have?
If you have taken the first abortion pill, contact us immediately.
Ideally, the reversal protocol should begin within 24 hours. However, there have been successful cases when treatment was started within 72 hours.
Even if you are unsure how much time has passed, reach out. It may not be too late.
What Should I Do Next?
